Sourcing
Descriptions start from how a word is actually used by the people who use it: community usage, in the open, over time. Then the documentation that exists for it.
Flags come from designer records where they exist: who made it, when, and which stripes. Where the record stops short, the flag page says so.
Sources are listed on the page where they are used, named and dated.
Verification of flags
A flag appears on this site only when the community has settled on a stripe set. Where a designer and a date are on record, the flag page shows them; where they aren’t, it says so in plain words rather than crediting someone we can’t name.
Where there is no settled flag at all, the identity shows a hatched “no settled flag” swatch and a plain sentence saying so. We don’t invent a flag for someone else’s identity.
Where sources disagree on the exact stripes, we show the stripe set most people actually use, and say that we did.
Today: 35 of the 138 identities show a flag with a settled stripe set; 27 of those carry a designer and a date on record, and the other 8 say so on their flag page; 103 show the hatched swatch. All of these numbers are computed from the data when the site is built.
Corrections
Spotted an error? A wrong word, a stale claim, a flag with the wrong shade, a page that describes a community in a way its members would not recognise.
There is no contact address yet. When there is one, it will be listed on the About page, and corrections will go there. A fix is dated on the page it changes.
A public, dated changelog is planned. It isn’t published yet.
Updates and dating
Every page shows a “Last updated” date. Content is re-read when a correction comes in, when the language around an identity moves, or when we find we got something wrong.
Advertising
There are no ads on this site today. When there are, these are the rules.
Ads are contextual or sold directly. No open programmatic auctions: they broadcast the page you are reading into a bid stream, and on this subject that is not acceptable.
Where ads go: after the answer, between sections, before the FAQ.
Where they never go: before the answer; anywhere near “On the hard days”; on the test, the result, the checkout, or these three trust pages.
Density has a ceiling: one slot every four to five paragraphs on a guide, three in the body of an identity page, and never more than the network allows. A page you can read is worth more than a slot.
Affiliate links
No page carries an affiliate link today. If that changes, each one is disclosed where it appears, on the page, not in a footer nobody reads.
Specialist shops come first. There are never affiliate links on therapy, clinics or hormones.
Any link to a binder comes with safe-binding guidance beside it.
AI assistance
Pages are drafted with AI assistance from community usage and documentation, then checked against their sources and edited before they are published.
We say this here because you would want to know.
Independence
No sponsor, advertiser or affiliate programme decides what a description says.
If a partner asked for a change to the words, the answer would be no, and the partner would go before the words did.
Last updated . Who is behind the site is on the About page.
