Your answers stay with you.

What this site does with your data, in plain words. Mostly: nothing.

The test

The test scores in your browser. Your answers are not sent anywhere to be worked out.

Your answers and your result stay in this browser. By default they live in session storage, which empties when you close the tab. If you switch it on, they are kept in local storage for seven days so you can come back; nothing is kept longer, and nothing is kept unless you chose it.

Nothing about a result is ever put in a URL, a receipt or an email. If you send the test to someone, they get the test, not your result.

What we count

Three numbers, and only as totals: how many tests are started, how many are finished, and how many people click a paid option on the result page.

Each one is a single anonymous request to a file on this site — /c/test-start.txt, /c/test-complete.txt, /c/purchase-intent.txt. It carries the event name and nothing else: no answers, no result, no identifier, no cookie. The count is the host’s request log. There is no analytics script and no third party.

Because nothing in it identifies anyone, a total is all it can ever be. It cannot be traced back to you, and there is nothing in it to delete.

Buying a PDF

Nothing is for sale today. The result page shows two PDFs we plan to offer. A click on one is counted as described above, and nothing else happens: no payment, no form, no address.

The email list

There is no email list today, and no form on this site collects an address.

If one opens, your address is stored with the mailing provider and is never joined to your test result. Your result is scored on your device and is never sent anywhere, so there is no row anywhere that holds an address and a result together.

One exception, stated because it is one: if you ask for a specific guide from an identity page, the request necessarily carries the name of the guide you asked for — otherwise we could not send it. That is a page you chose to read, not an answer you gave a test, and it is the only thing about you stored next to your address.

Advertising

Ads are contextual: chosen from the page, not from you. They do not receive personal data from us.

No third-party tags run on the test or the result.

What a page loads

We set no cookies. If an advertising partner ever needs consent for anything, you are asked first, with the box unticked.

The typefaces are served from this site, like everything else on the page. Nothing is fetched from a third party.

Age

MyGender is for people aged 16 and over.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, and ask for it to be deleted.

For the test, there is nothing to delete: we never had it. Clearing this browser’s storage removes the only copy.

For anything else: there is no contact address yet. When there is one, it will be listed here. Until then this site holds nothing that could be looked up under your name: no account, no email address, no cookie.

If you think we have handled your data badly, you can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Who is responsible

MyGender is the publisher of this site and the party responsible for it.
