Demigirl vs Demiboy
The same shape with a different anchor: a demigirl is partly a woman, a demiboy partly a man.
The short version
Both words describe a partial connection to one gender. Real, steady, and only going so far. The rest is some other gender, or none at all. The difference between them is which gender the fraction is a fraction of: womanhood for a demigirl, manhood for a demiboy. In both, the partial bit is the point, not a stage on the way to the whole thing.
Neither word says anything about what you were assigned at birth. There are demigirls who were called boys and demiboys who were called girls, and the version people dismiss fastest is the one that matches the birth certificate. Nobody has ever agreed a percentage. The fraction is a way of speaking, not a reading off a dial.
How to tell them apart
Which one is more likely
More likely Demigirl if…
- Woman is the closest word you have, and you would still like to keep the qualifier that comes after it.
- You read the word non-binary and thought yes, then thought no, because there is definitely a girl in here.
- "As a woman, you know how it is" snags, and the snag is your answer for another month.
More likely Demiboy if…
- You are fine with he/him and still hear a wrong note when someone says "he is a good man" about you.
- Non-binary was accurate and still felt like it had shaved something off. There is a bloke in there, and the word did not have a slot for him.
- "My man" from a stranger is almost right — not wrong enough to correct, not right enough to have forgotten by lunchtime.
- Honestly, yes. Some people are part girl and part boy at once, with a gap in the middle. Both pages say so plainly.
- If the two fractions take turns rather than sitting together, read genderfluid or bigender before claiming both.

What people get wrong
Questions people ask
What is a demigirl or demiboy?
A demigirl is partly a woman: a real connection to womanhood that only goes so far, with the rest being some other gender or none. A demiboy is the same shape pointed at manhood. Both are steady states rather than schedules, both are open to either birth assignment, and neither is a stopping point on the way to the whole thing.
Can you be a demigirl and a demiboy at the same time?
Yes. Some people are part girl and part boy at once, with a gap in the middle, and both pages say so. The thing to check is whether the two parts sit together or take turns. If they take turns, genderfluid or bigender may describe it better than two demi words stacked.
